A music-fueled coming-of-age tale, Kat and the Band follows music-obsessed Kat Malone (Ella Hunt), a teenage girl with big dreams. Kat longs to be a professional band manager and, with a contagious energy, succeeds in persuading struggling indie pop group ‘Dollar Days’ and its bassist (Dougie Poynter) to take a chance on her as their manager. But there is one important detail she is not telling them: she is only 17 and still at school.
Featuring an excellent performance from BAFTA nominee Ella Hunt (Anna and the Apocalypse BFF18), who is joined by McFly/McBusted pop sensation Dougie Poynter, in his first major acting role, Kat and the Band also stars English soap actress Katherine Kelly (Mr Selfridge, Happy Valley) and comedian Rufus Hound.
Punctuated by a catchy soundtrack from indie music favourites Some Velvet Morning and a special appearance from Badly Drawn Boy, this is an entertaining adventure into London’s youth culture and music scene. A feel-good film celebrating the power of pursing your dreams, Kat and the Band fizzes with inspiring positivity.
