A Bump Along the Way
Australian Premiere

A charming Irish crowd-pleaser from an all-female creative team, A Bump Along the Way explores the tumultuous relationship between a single mother and her teenage daughter.

Set in Derry, Northern Ireland, A Bump Along the Way tells the story of fun-loving, 44-year-old single mum Pamela (Bronagh Gallagher, The Personal History of David Copperfield BFF19) who falls pregnant after a boozy one-night-stand with a man half her age, much to the shame of her buttoned-up teenage daughter Allegra (rising star Lola Petticrew) who disapproves of her carefree lifestyle.

As Pamela deals with her unexpected pregnancy and the growing pains of the disgruntled Allegra, their fragile relationship becomes strained, yet the challenges they both face ultimately bring mother and daughter to a better understanding of themselves and each other.

The talented Bronagh Gallagher delivers a poignant performance in Shelly Love’s comedy of clashing sensibility. Tackling difficult topics with humour, A Bump Along the Way is a heartfelt film that champions women and delves into their complexities.
